Archant Suffolk Food and Drink Awards 2010

Client Name: Archant
Event Type: Awards

This is the first year that Archant have chosen to work with an AV company on this intimate event. Jo Reeder at Archant had a concern that the event would lose it’s character and enjoyable quality with too much technology. The venue – The West Wing at Ickworth has a special feel that needed to be preserved. Nexus decided to project graphics on the walls and create graphics accordingly. The use of projection screens would have proved cumbersome and obtrusive. The vocal sound system was kept small and discreet and Nexus’ decision to use live music supplied by Sole Bay Strings allowed the Awards to be punctuated with stings and walk ups, keeping the atmosphere “just right”.

Continuing the theme of working closely with the client both from an AV perspective and on a management level, Nexus sponsored the Category of Best Tea / Coffee shop. For the first time the directors of Nexus, Jamie Hazelwood and Paul Thorpe got to feel the significance of selecting a winner.

"Meeting real people who are running real businesses that will benefit from the kudos of winning, placed a huge weight on our shoulders… and all the cake placed a massive weight on our stomachs too!” said Jamie Hazelwood. Paul indicated that their decision to be “more involved” in the events will continue “We have thoroughly enjoyed taking part at this level, it’s been great to see one of our clients event from a new angle, we must do more like this… Best Curry House next year please!”

Nexus AV would like to thank Jo Stewart from Stoke By Nayland Hotel, Golf and Country Club for presenting the award for Best Tea and coffee Shop on their behalf.
